It is important to start working with your body relaxed. We do stretching exercises intended specifically for singers, which relax the muscles of the neck, shoulders, diaphragmatic belt, hips, knees and feet.
Correct breathing is one of the most important factors of our work. You will practice some easy and effective breathing techniques to strengthen your diaphragm and all your vocal muscles. On a daily basis, we only use about 30% of our lungs. It has been proven that we can drastically improve that capacity through singing.
In our daily, often stress-filled life, we unconsciously develop muscular tensions. The back of the neck and the shoulders area most easily accumulate stiffness. The cervical muscles are shortened and often very painful because we don’t breathe correctly. This region is very near the vocal cords which must vibrate freely to create optimal, pure tones. Surrounded by tensed muscles, their functioning is limited.
Fortunately, by working on the alignment of the posture accompanied by diaphragmatic breathing, we can drastically limit these tensions and make room for a beautiful voice.
The voice must be warmed-up before singing. Specifically chosen vocalizations aim to strengthen the vocal cords and the diaphragm, to widen the rib cage and to extend the vocal range.
As soon as the voice is warm, all the vocal techniques practiced during the warm-up phase are put in use when singing songs. Basic classical repertoire is often used before moving on to jazz, pop or musical comedy. This final phase becomes longer and longer in parallel with your progress.
Obviously, the more energy you put into training, the faster will be the progress and the pleasure of expressing yourself freely through singing.
